MAY MOOD BOARD
The month of May is here and summer is approaching fast. May is the start of my busy season at the shop so I’m in full on preparation mode for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend. I’ve also been working on a new website for my brand Nash & Ivy that I’m so excited to launch at the end of this month as well. It has been something I have wanted to do for over 2 years and will help us continue to grow. This month I’ve been inspired by all the soft nautical tones of white, taupe, and soft blues. Hydrangeas have always been a love of mine and can’t wait to incorporate them more this month both at home and in my work. They are my favorite fresh flower to style with at home.
As we move into the warmer summer months I am gravitating more towards dresses. I have been a white tee and denim kind of gal for quite sometime but I am finally feeling like branching out and adding a few sun dresses into my closet. Linen is one of my favorite materials to wear in the summer for both it’s cooling effect and it offers an effortlessly chic feel to an everyday outfit. Our farmer’s market returns next weekend for the season and I can’t wait to see what all the local vendors will have. My favorite items to pick up are fresh flowers + delicious bread from local farmers + bakers.
Tis the season for french market baskets to be used for every occasion. I personally use mine year round but love to bring mine to the market or the beach. It is such an easy way to add a bit of coastal flare to your summer looks. They are both chic and functional which is what we love around here. They also make a beautiful gift for an upcoming bridal shower or wedding you might have this summer.
My garden got a little upgrade this year as we had to find a way to keep our puppy Jack from wanting to dig in the flower beds. We added a three foot black metal fence and recycled rubber mulch. Our local greenhouses were so well stocked this year that I decided to add a few more varieties to add to the cut flower assortment I had already planted earlier this spring. This little area has become my favorite place to go. It’s a space all to myself where I can relax my mind and unwind from the day. I get to tend to it and watch it grow. While visiting a local greenhouse earlier this week I found two shrubs called “Storm Cloud” that will bloom a light blue flower in late spring to summer. We placed one on each side of the entrance to the garden in honor of my garden buddy who can’t be with us.
I’ve curated a list of my summer favorites and will be adding to it all month long. You can find it here.
