DESIGNING THIS YEAR’S GARDEN

Gardening is one thing I never thought I would be good at. It has brought so much calm into my world and helps melt the daily stressors away. As our temperatures here in the midwest are starting to warm up a bit, it makes me so eager to sink my hands back into the dirt. The last two growing seasons I have only grown flowers. Experimenting with different varieties came with it’s challenges but I learned so much in the process which is what gardening is all about. This year I’m expanding the garden to add in a few of my family’s favorite vegetables. It’s always exciting and a bit nerve wracking to try something new but that’s what life is for. If you aren’t trying new things and evolving your skills in all that you do, what a bland look on life that would be.

This upcoming growing season will be here before we know it and I’ve spent the last few weeks diving into my favorite seed brands offerings and found a few new kinds of flowers, a few oldies in new varieties, and three types of vegetables that I am planning to plant in my garden boxes. Last summer + fall we added a backyard office for me to work from home in and it opened up more space to landscape and add life to the outside of that space as well. Landscaping isn’t my strong suit but the challenge of putting beautiful things together is what drives me. I’m still gathering inspiration for this part of the backyard and will happily share what I find with you all soon.
