IN MY GARDENING ERA
This spring I was inspired by one of my best friend’s Kristin to pursue a new hobby. As I craved for warmer temperatures and everything to bloom again I reached out to her in search of some insight into how to start growing flowers. Her passion and work ethic for her garden inspired me to create one in our own backyard. After careful research and many texts later I chose seeds that would be ideal for a small cut flower garden.
My journey started with two raised flower beds that quickly turned into four after I sourced all the flowers I wanted to grow. A few online seed orders + a couple trips to a local family owned greenhouse lead to so many beautiful varieties. My new hobby was in full force and I couldn’t get home fast enough after a long day of work to tend to the garden. It quickly became a calm outlet that forced me to relax for a little while.
I selected certain varieties for my garden to cut and display in both my home and my brick and mortar shop. While I love to support my local flower shop in the colder months it was refreshing to be able to grow + cut flowers when I needed them. I even got to share some with family and friends when they came to visit or for special gifts. As the summer season comes to an end I am already reflecting on what I have learned + daydreaming about next years varieties.
