A NEW FOUND LOVE : CURATING ART FOR THE HOME

A big focus for me while making our house feel like home again is adding art pieces to our current style for our home. Art has been something that I have loved for sometime but now actually hand selecting pieces to put in our home makes my heart skip a beat. On my own journey of putting my original pieces out into the world, it’s important to me to slowly collect pieces of art that reflect our personal style and taste in our home. While scrolling social media I came across artist Shelby Wimberly work and immediately fell in love with her pieces. I was lucky enough to snag one of her smaller pieces that is featured above and it’s just the start of collecting her beautiful pieces. See more of her current work here.

I wanted to add functional + fresh pieces to add interest to our back entryway wall. The goal was to have a layered look that was still functional. I started with these natural wood floating shelves in two sizes as a clean palette to work with. Curating vintage items and saving them for a rainy day when they might be needed is one of my favorite things to do. I knew I wanted to make my new art piece one of the main focal points of this space. We anchored the space with three black hooks that can hold coats, bags, doggy leashes, ect. It provides functionality while still being aesthetically pleasing. This woven market basket I picked up at a flea market some time ago but will round up a few of my favorites soon in a separate post. It is such a beautiful alternative to the iconic blue Ikea bag we all have in our linen closets.

My love for blue + white ceramic vases runs deep and my collection is growing by the week. They are so versatile and give a little color where it is needed without standing out too much. The second art piece featured here is a vintage piece I brought back from an antique store from one of our trips to Nashville. It goes perfectly with my Shelby Wimberly piece and compliments the space so well. To add a bit of coziness I added my favorite candle from Linnea in the scent Wood House. It’s such a neutral scent that isn’t too overpowering and is made with clean ingredients layered with a vintage blue + white ceramic dish. A piece of coral and a fresh plant finish this little nook and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

I’ve curated a list of pieces that are available here.
