HOME REFRESH: OUR MASTER BEDROOM

In an effort to start making our house feel like home again we chose to start with our master bedroom. This is our sanctuary for rest and to instill calmness that has felt a little more empty lately. We knew we wanted to go a bit darker for the paint color to add coziness to the space. Our first paint sample selections were stunning but a bit too dark with our black doors + darker hue furniture pieces. After bringing in a few more lighter colors + seeing them in different lighting we ultimately chose Platinum Gray by Benjamin Moore in a satin finish. It is the perfect medium shade that isn’t too dark for the space.

To add texture we added a simple molding in various sizes of rectangles to the plain walls. It was such a small addition but made a huge difference in the overall look and feel of the room. It gives the room a more polished look without being over the top. The tones of the paint color look beautiful with the contrasting white trim + neutral bedding. We kept all our existing furniture pieces that we have been slowly adding into the space over the past year. Our headboard is upholstered in a beautiful creamy white linen that is the highlight as soon as you walk into the room. Our night stands are quite large in a gorgeous black color that contrasts with our neutral table lamps.

For styling accents I like to keep things pretty minimal and clutter free. Our photo frames are a classic black tone with a thick white matte that houses a few of our favorite black + white photos. I prefer b + w photography as it adds a classic touch of nostalgia. Fresh stems are what brings a little bit of life into the space as well as mood boost. My favorite candles are from the brand Linnea and they are a must have around our home. If you have been following along for a while you know my love for coffee table books runs deep. They bring texture to the space and are so useful to refer to for inspiration. I’ve curated a collection of my favorite pieces to style with here.

Next up is changing out our current light fixture and getting started on a custom closet.
