SUMMER MUSES

Hello + Happy Tuesday. I hope your week is off to a great start as I am currently writing from my cozy bed with our sleeping puppy to my right. The calm before the storm if you know you know.

Summer is just around the corner as the temperatures are getting hotter by the day. Everything in the garden is continuing to bloom and starting to look so beautiful. I can’t wait to starting harvesting the fresh stems and styling them inside. As we head into the summer season I wanted to curate a list of pieces that are inspiring me currently.

  1. Duck Canvas Utility Gloves | These bad boys have gotten plenty of use so far this season and are my go-to. The quality is unmatched and are so durable not to mention chic at the same time. Must have for working in the yard or garden.

  2. Women’s Jonie Ankle Strap Footbed Sandals | As an almost thirty year old, and on the go constantly, comfort is top priority while still looking chic and put together. These sandals do all of that + more. They go with just about everything in my wardrobe + give me a little break from wearing my birks everyday.

  3. Beige Patterned Pull-On Shorts | Don’t get me wrong I love a good pair of denim shorts in the summer but they aren’t always the most comfortable option when you are wanting something a little more loose fitting. The colors + dainty floral pattern are what drew me to this pair of shorts and I’m excited to style them with my crisp white button down, one side tucked, with some slip on sandals and a woven basket tote.

  4. VOLUSPA | Japonica Sparkling Cuvee Classic Candle | This brand is new to me and the beautiful packaging is what drew me in. I picked this candle up at a local flower shop in town + to say I’m now a fan is 100% true. This scent is crisp + fresh, perfect for cooler summer evenings.

  5. Steel Gardening Shears Dark Copper | I used to just take the good ole kitchen scissors out with me to the garden to harvest my fresh stems but these garden shears make all the difference and keep my pair for the kitchen clean. They give a clean cut and are a heavy weight that feels substantial not to mention they are a gorgeous copper hue.

  6. The Minimalist by Merit | This brand. I love it with all my heart and then some. First I started with the Flush Blush in the color beverly hills + Brush No. 1 . That is when the obsession started for me and since grown since then. I’m excited to try The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick in the color bone. I’m going to need my summer color soon as I’ve been in the sun a lot more lately. The ease + quickness it brings to my makeup routine should be in textbooks. The hype around these products is real and I hope you try them for yourself.

  7. Raffia Top Knot Headband with Pearls | Headbands are making a comeback and I am here for it. I subtly add in a headband here and there and snagged this one from one of my recent strolls through Target. I’ve already worn it twice and love that it gives a bit of a coastal vibe to my look. I styled it with a blue oversized linen button down shirt, wide leg denim, hair curled + yellow slide sandals.

  8. Beach Life: Home, Heart & the Sea | This is Lauren Liess’s newest book and I was so excited to comb through all the beautifully curated pages. I’m currently sourcing inspiration for a project that will start in about a month in our backyard. I’m finding myself always coming back to a subtle coastal aesthetic + color palette. This is a gorgeous coffee table book to add to your collection and be sure to check out all of her books. I own them all and find her style so calming.

  9. Khaki Green Off The Shoulder Cotton Dress | I purchased this dress for an upcoming outdoor wedding we have in mid June up in Minnesota. The eyelet detail on the top and bottom is what drew me in and I can’t wait to see how it fits. The color is neutral enough to take into both summer + fall. I plan to style it with black sandals + a woven textured handbag with gold jewelry.

  10. Black Straw Shoulder Bag | When it comes to summer give me all the rattan / woven pieces. This black straw bag is such a show stopper and a must have accessory for summer. The price point is excellent and will be so fun to style all season long.

Here’s to all the summer days ahead.

x Nikki
