EDITOR’S NOTE 4.15
April is here and spring is finally in full swing. The sunshine is back and provides the all consuming feeling of spending as much time outside as possible. For me April is all about preparation. Preparing our home for the new season ahead. Preparing for long hours during planting season. Preparing for the upcoming busy summer season at the shop. I’ve always been a planner. A good ole to-do list is how I get through the week but sometimes I find myself needing to take a little break from the to-do list, slow down, and do things that bring joy + relaxation.
Since the weather has been so nice here in the midwest it has inspired me to start to slowly refresh parts of our home outside. I had a lovely landscape consultation for our front and side of our house as the landscaping is straight from the early 2000’s and is in need of a refresh { the day lilies had to go } . We got straight to work and started with the smaller portion of landscaping along the sidewalk to get to our front door. We are slowly going to replace all the river rock with a more modern but traditional option as well as refresh the shrubs + plants to better suite our tastes. Curating a collection of plants + flowers has been quite overwhelming but I’m finally feeling like I’m starting to see everything come together. I’ll be sure to share more of this process + all the details as we continue to work on this project so stay tuned.
Last month I officially launched my second business N.Eden Creative { lifestyle photography + original textured art } and it has brought me so much more creative inspiration that I’m learning to translate into Nash & Ivy as well. They say once you start one business it is easy to start another and man were they right. Between the blog, N.Eden Creative, and Nash & Ivy I feel like I’ve finally found the aesthetic and path I want to take while watching each shine on their own but also thrive + complement each other. It truly is a culmination of neutral + classic that I love to put out into the world. From photography, to art, to designing the jewelry my hope is that it brings out my personal style + eye that I get to share with all of you. It truly is the greatest joy to do what I do. Don’t get me wrong it has it’s challenges, and after some hard weeks you will want to quit. I was quickly reminded of this early this year and it relit a fire under me again that I was so desperately searching for. New projects have come to fruition, and I can’t wait to see where all of this is headed in the next few months.
It was too quiet in our house after Sam passed so we decided to add a new furry family member to the mix. Jack has brought so much joy back into our house as we navigate our new normal without Sam. The stars aligned for us and we took a trip to Oklahoma at the end of February to bring him home. The new puppy stage is not for the faint of heart and has kept us very busy + on our toes. New adjustments + creating new routines has been the most challenging part but we wouldn’t change it for the world.
I hope you are inspired to find the fire inside of you to find what makes you feel alive + brings joy to you and your home.
